Mr Justice Slingsby is a judge not afraid to speak his mind, even though it does land him in trouble. When he discovers that the Lord Chancellor has promoted the husband of his mistress, he detects corruption and is determined to root it out. The Lord Chancellor is equally determined to stop him.
